How to install a case file to your Anesoft simulator library:

Anesthesia Simulator 5, Critical Care Simulator 3, Obstetrics Simulator 3, Pediatrics Simulator 3, Sedation Simulator 3

Select Explore Cases and the desired simulator program. Select the case you want to download, click the down (expansion) arrow, then click the Download button for the desired case.

The file you download is a text (.txt) file. The text will be displayed when you click the Download button. Select File > Save As... Save the file (e.g. AnesthSim5caseX.txt)in the Cases folder of the Anesthesia Simulator 5. If you used the default installation directory when you installed Anesthesia Simulator 5 on your system, the case directory is: C:\\Program Files\Anesoft\Anesthesia Simulator 5\cases. Follow similar instructions for each simulator.

You can rename the file as you wish. We suggest naming the file using the title found in the second line of the data file. You can remove the .txt extension so only the title for the case will appear in the cases directory when you select the desired case when you run the simulator program.

For the Anesthesia Simulator, Critical Care Simulator, Obstetrics Simulator, Pediatrics Simulator and Sedation Simulator, the case file contains both the information for the case scenario and the Help > Learning Objectives for the case.

ACLS Simulator 7, PALS Simulator 7, Neonatal Simulator 2

Select Explore Cases > ACLS Simulator, Neonatal Simulator or PALS Simulator. Select the case you want to download, click the down (expansion) arrow, then click the Download button for the desired case.

The file you download is a compressed archive (.rar) file which contains two files - the case scenario data file and the Help\Learning Objectives rich text file (.rtf). We suggest you Save the downloaded file rather than Run. Save the file to a location you can remember like your Desktop or C:\\temp.

Next you will have to uncompress the file using the WinRAR program. If you don't already have it on your system, you can download this utility at www.rarlab.com/download.htm.

After you install WinRAR, double-click on the downloaded file such as ACLSsim7case1.rar. Under Name click on the icon of the folder with two dots. Then select Extract To. Make sure you note the destination path for the two extracted files. If you saved the downloaded file to the Desktop the destination should be a folder of the same name (ACLSsim7case1) on the Desktop.

The folder you just extracted to will have two files with the identical name, one without an extension, and one with the .rtf extension. Move the file without the extension to the Cases folder in the appropriate simulator directory:

• For ACLS Simulator, if you used the default installation directory when you installed the program on your system, the case directory is:
C:\\Program Files\Anesoft\ACLS Simulator 7\cases

• For PALS Simulator, if you used the default installation directory when you installed the program on your system, the case directory is:
C:\\Program Files\Anesoft\PALS Simulator 7\cases

• For Neonatal Simulator, if you used the default installation directory when you installed the program on your system, the case directory is:
C:\\Program Files\Anesoft\Neonatal Simulator 2\cases

Move the file with the .rtf extension to the Help\LearnObj folder in the appropriate simulator directory:

• For ACLS Simulator, if you used the default installation directory when you installed the program on your system, the case directory is:
C:\\Program Files\Anesoft\ACLS Simulator 7\help\acls_english\learnob

• For PALS Simulator, if you used the default installation directory when you installed the program on your system, the case directory is:
C:\\Program Files\Anesoft\PALS Simulator 7\help\pals_english\learnobj

• For Neonatal Simulator, if you used the default installation directory when you installed the program on your system, the case directory is:
C:\\Program Files\Anesoft\Neonatal Simulator 2\help\neo_english\learnobj

We suggest that you do not change the names of the files since both names must be identical. Otherwise you will get an error when you run the simulator program.
